The Runaway Five are a independent band from sunny Tucson, AZ born of a love of loud guitars, square wave synth leads, and impressive video game collections. They play ’sci-fi’, a slick, retro-feeling synthesis of synth rock, dance punk, and power pop. The R5 blend guitar-driven rock, Nintendo Gameboys, and hook-filled dance music with a nostalgic sense of pop — the kind of music someone in an 80s movie might have imagined people would listen to in the future. Influenced by The Talking Heads, The Cars, and 8-bit battle music, The Runaway Five’s debut EP ‘Raygunomics’ is on sale now.
